LUCIA MOCNAY

I am a multidisciplinary artist creating anthropomorphic taxidermy using authentic antiques, vintage textiles & relics.

I gather inspiration from folklore, archetypes, mythology and mysticism while exploring history, culture, migration and fashion.

I aim to create pieces that are macabre yet delightful,
which emit an aesthetic of veneration and awe.

All animal remains used in my work are sourced ethically and conscientiously.

I work with invasive species to aid the balance of the fragile native ecosystem and help restore and sustain Australia’s unique flora and fauna.

I re-purpose remains that would otherwise perish and give them an honorary second life.

My work resides in personal collections and is on permanent display in museums in Australia, Korea, Canada, Europe and in North America.

I acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians of the land I live and work on, the Bunurong people.

I pay my respects to Indigenous cultures, their elders past and present, in Australia and across the world.
